2015 marks the fourth year of River Link’s al fresco music series aside the River Arts District’s beloved French Broad River. The concerts, held on five separate Friday evenings from May through October, “assemble a top notch mix of quality national acts and local favorites” at no charge to attendees. Don’t leave your wallet at home though! A fleet of food and beer trucks sell refreshments throughout each evening.
“We’ve increased our entertainment budget this year so that we have three solid acts every show,” explained RiverLink’s volunteer services director Dave Russell. “We’ll have beer from New Belgium at each show, with a different local brewery also. So far, we have Catawba, Highland and Twin Leaf coming out. There will be food trucks, ice cream and non-alcoholic beverages as well.”
“Once again Sundance Power Systems is coming out to power the stage with solar,” says Russell. “We’ve added bike racks for locking up bikes, and are encouraging folks to bike or paddle the event. We’ll also have trolley service.”
RiverMusic’s 2015 lineup includes the following performers:
Friday, May 1: the Movement, Satta Roots, Franklin’s Kite
Friday, June 12: Ben Miller Band, Red Dirt Revelators, the Toothe
Friday, July 10: Hackensaw Boys, Jon Stickley Trio, Grits & Soul
Friday Sept. 11: Nora Jane Struthers, Sweet Leda, Megan Jean & the KFB
Friday, Oct. 9: Fred Wesley & the New JB’s, the Lee Boys, Lyric
Gates open at 5 p.m. for each show, and opening acts take the stage at 5:30 p.m. All RiverMusic events are produced by Heira Productions and sponsored by Prestige Subaru, the Chaddick Foundation, Pisgah Investments, New Belgium Brewing, Catawba Brewing, Highland Brewing and Twin Leaf Brewery.
