Growing Cities Earth Day film and panel discussion
Asheville, NC — Organic Growers School will host the film Growing Cities, a documentary about urban farming in America, on April 22, 2015 (Earth Day) at Lenoir Rhyne University of Graduates Studies, at 36 Montford Ave, Asheville, NC. The film examines the role of urban farming in America and looks at the power it has to revitalize our cities and change the way we eat.
Doors open at 6:30 pm for the event and the film starts at 7:00 pm. Panel discussion to follow the movie. Growing Cities Filmmakers take a trip across country meeting city dwellers across America who are revitalizing their communities and re-imagining the food system one rooftop farm and backyard chicken at a time.
From rooftop farmers to backyard beekeepers, Americans are growing food like never before. Growing Cities tells the inspiring stories of these intrepid urban farmers, innovators, and everyday city-dwellers who are challenging the way this country grows and distributes its food. From those growing food in backyards to make ends meet to educators teaching kids to eat healthier, viewers discover urban farmers are harvesting a whole lot more than simply good food.
