Sleep Tight Kids Receives $10,000 Prize

PRESS RELEASE:

Parsec Financial, a fee-only wealth management firm, recently awarded SleepTight Kids a Parsec Prize for 2016. Sleep Tight Kids will receive $10,000 to continue its goal of promoting feelings of hope and comfort in children as they lay their heads to rest each night.

Sleep Tight Kids supplies comfort and utilitarian items to children in distressed situations. Items such as dental kits, toiletries, pajamas, stuffed animals, books and blankets are delivered directly to children in need at battered women’s shelters, foster care and orphanages.Recipients have little or no income and can come from any background, race, or ethnicity.

“Sleep Tight Kids Inc. is overwhelmed to be one of this year’s recipients of the Parsec Prize! There are so many needy children in WNC who are entering foster care or homeless shelters with nothing but the clothes on their backs, and the agencies that house them are not funded to give out comfort items. Parsec’s employees and Board have validated what we at STK are trying to accomplish and we are profoundly thankful for ParsecFinancial’s commitment to helping others through selfless giving.” – Jill Schwartzkopf, CEO and Founder

When Sleep Tight Kids receives a call from an agency in need, their 40+ volunteers can mobilize and donate items of need within days. STK maintains warehouse storage space where they stock necessity items so they are always at the ready. “A big part of the culture here at Parsec is being able to give back to local non-profits that are working to improve the communities we serve. We are so excited to recognize Sleep Tight Kids as a 2016 Parsec Prize recipient,” saysAshley Gragtmans, CFP®, Financial Advisor. “Through their hard work, they are able to create a lasting impact on a young child’s life, by providing them with comfort items when in need. Recognizing organizations like Sleep Tight Kids is why the Parsec Prize exists today.”

This year, ten organizations will share a total of $100,000. “The Parsec Prize helps local nonprofits make a real impact on their communities. Their work is so important and we are honored to be part of their legacy. We are always impressed by these organizations that strive to improve the lives of others and the community,” says Rick Manske, CEO, Parsec Financial.

Parsec Financial founded the Parsec Prize in 2005. Since that time, Parsec has given over $850,000 in prizes to 61 local nonprofits serving Western North Carolina and Charlotte. The Parsec Prize represents approximately one half of Parsec’s annual giving. Giving back to the community is a fundamental value at Parsec and they have long maintained a significant commitment to charitable giving.
