Press release from Homeward Bound:
Nearly 60% of homeless women cite domestic violence as the direct cause of their homelessness, and that number is probably low because intimate partner violence usually is under-reported.
On Feb. 12 at noon, Homeward Bound is hosting its Third Annual Valentine’s Open Your Heart for Women and Homelessness Lunch and Learn where the intersection between domestic violence and homelessness will be explored by a panel of experts including Helpmate and Homeward Bound staff.
Country music stars Joe Lasher and Kaitlyn Baker have written a song especially for Homeward Bound and will perform it during the Open Your Heart event. Born and raised in Weaverville, NC, country music entertainer and songwriter Joe Lasher has been calling the stage home since he was a teenager. Lasher and wife Kaitlyn Baker currently reside in Nashville, TN., but haven’t forgotten their roots and are big supporters of Homeward Bound’s work of ending homelessness.
Presenting Sponsor Ingles Markets is providing lunch for the first 200 people who registered. Generous sponsors include Nest Realty, Wicked Weed Brewing, HomeTrust Bank, Quility (formerly Symmetry Financial), Self-Help Credit Union, Pink Dog Gallery and iHeart Media.
The Open Your Heart event is virtual and will be show on Zoom. To register visit www.Homewardboundwnc.org.
