Press release from Asheville Humane Society:
I am sad to report that this past Saturday, March 13 at 11:10 PM, two unidentified individuals stole $2000 worth of fencing supplies from our Community Center located at 1425 Patton Avenue. The thieves broke into the outdoor storage area and were able to load several fence panels onto a trailer that was attached to their mid-sized SUV (based on security footage, the car appears to be a Ford Explorer). I want to assure you these supplies were locked up. It is clear to me that whoever took the fencing had planned this and did some pretty significant maneuvering to get the fencing free and into their vehicle.
While on the surface a few fencing panels might not seem like a lot, these panels would have been used to build dog fences as part of Asheville Humane Society’s Community Solutions Program. This innovative program was established to provide resources and services to underserved communities so that pets can stay in their homes where they are loved. Pets often get surrendered to the shelter for reasons that are very preventable. AHS works hard to provide assistance with vet care, pet food, fence building, dog training, and more. We are proud to be a national leader in trying to keep pets and their people together.
A generous volunteer has offered a $500 reward for any information leading to an arrest. We are asking for your help to resolve this so we can continue to support pets and their people in our community! If you have any information, please alert the Asheville Police Department by texting TIP2APD.
Please consider a donation of any amount if you would like to support Asheville Humane Society’s Community Solutions Program!
What kind of actual scumbag steals from a charitable organization?
