Press release from Asheville City Schools:
We’ve continued to collaborate with NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and it looks as though there’s still lightning and high amounts of rain in the forecast during the time of graduation. Therefore, we will officially be postponing graduation until tomorrow, Saturday, May 29, at 10:00 a.m.
The front should be moving through around 2:00 a.m., so we will have staff on hand to dry off chairs and as much of the stadium as possible.
As a reminder, gates to the stadium will now open at 8:30 a.m., and graduates will need to report to the Varsity Gym no later than 9:00 a.m. for line-up.
Despite the change in ceremony times, each graduate is still able to invite up to eight guests with their pre-printed tickets.
Thank you for your understanding. Tomorrow is our best chance to have the graduation that our students want and deserve.
Congratulations to our Class of 2021! And, if you are unable to attend but would like to celebrate with our almost-alumni from afar, please know graduation will be livestreamed
here.
