Free school meals are essential, Asheville moms, caregivers, advocates will tell lawmakers Aug. 3

NC State Reps. Eric Ager and Caleb Rudow will join moms, caregivers and their children at a MomsRising event in Asheville on Saturday afternoon to discuss the need for free school meals for all North Carolina students.

Right now, 1 in 6 children in North Carolina face hunger on a daily basis – and 81 percentof the state’s voters support investing in free school meals for all to fight childhood hunger and strengthen communities. At Saturday’s event, MomsRising members will share personal stories and discuss how to build Mom Power for universal school meals.

The event will include arts, crafts and a storytime for children, as well as a voter registration table. It is open to the media.
