Asheville Police make arrest In overnight shooting

Asheville Police press release:

Asheville Police arrested a woman following a shooting overnight in west Asheville that sent a man to Mission Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

 

Asheville Police responded around 12:34 a.m. to Laurel Loop in west Asheville to investigate a report of a man with a gunshot wound to the head. Upon arrival, officers immediately provided life-saving measures, and the victim was transported to Mission Hospital. Officers were also able to locate a suspect.

 

Detectives and Forensic Technicians investigated, and working with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office, charged Jessica Barnes Ferland (05/06/1984) with Attempted First Degree Murder. 

 

The Asheville Police Department would like to recognize the bravery and rapid response of those officers who first arrived on scene, along with the dedicated investigators, and our partners in the District Attorney’s Office for their service this morning.

 

Ferland was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) due to the Pretrial Integrity Act.
