Ahleuchatistas turn 14 this year, and that’s a long tenure in band years. But the duo of guitarist Shane Parish and drummer Ryan Oslance only seems to gain in energy, inspiration, vision and craft. Theirs is “a musical odyssey of pure imagination, limitless in influences, combining tight-knit composition with improvisation, and delivering powerful live shows,” according to the band’s bio. Though an instrumental act, there’s a distinct language between the two performers and their songs, a marriage of the measured and organic, are narratives of mood, dream, emotion and calculation.
Parish and Oslance recently announced an East Coast tour, playing dates with Buke and Gase and with Ava Mendoza and Jessica Pavone. The latter share the bill with Ahleuchatistas at The Mothlight on Monday, Aug. 22, at 9 p.m. Free.
In this video, filmed by Cody Sarabia, Ahleuchatistas play “Heraclitean” at All Go West in June.
