A-B Tech has announced the dedication ceremony for its new Ferguson Center for Allied Health and Workforce Development will be held Tuesday, December 1 at 11 a.m. across from Mission Hospital at 10 Genevieve Circle in Asheville.
The building is named for Jack and Carolyn Ferguson, who donated five million dollars to help the college purchase equipment and furnishings for the new facility. Additional funding for construction was generated by a quarter-cent county sales tax implemented to finance expansion of A-B Tech’s overall facilities.
The Ferguson Center will house eighteen Allied Health programs, serving approximately 800 students in addition to housing several healthcare workforce programs and continuing education classes. The building is expected to open in January 2016.
The dedication ceremony will feature speeches from A-B Tech President Dennis King, Buncombe County Commission Chair David Gantt, Mission Health CEO Ron Paulus, M.D., Economic Workforce Development Coalition Executive Director Ben Teague and A-B Tech Board of Trustees Chair Joe Brumit. Jack and Carolyn Ferguson will also be in attendance for the ceremony.
