A-B Tech hosts 40th annual children’s holiday party Dec. 4

Press release:

Holiday Tradition Celebrates 40 years at A-B Tech

What: A-B Tech’s 40th Annual Children’s Holiday

Who: A-B Tech students, faculty and staff, and about 100 children from the Head Start programs of Buncombe and Madison counties.

When: 11 a.m.- 1 p.m., Friday, December 4

Where: Coman Student Activity Center, Asheville Campus

Sponsored by the Student Government Association, the holiday party started in 1976 to provide toys for children who may not have other gifts during the holiday season. The children, ages 3 to 5, will eat lunch, visit with Santa and receive stuffed stockings, big wheel tricycles and helmets purchased with donations from students, faculty, and staff. The children will also test out their new wheels on a track set up in the gym.

The event is open only to current sponsors participating in the holiday party. The Student Government Association encourages each program, club, class, and office to consider sponsoring one or more children for this party. For many of these children, this will be their only activity for the holiday season.
