FREE MOUNTAIN REGION WORKSHOP
ADVOCATE EFFECTIVELY – MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARDASHEVILLE – Want to help change the word? Then join like-minded others at a two-hour workshop (sponsored by AARP and UNC Asheville OLLI) for an opportunity to learn how to make your voice heard by federal, state and local officials. A panel of presenters with in-depth experience in advocacy, legislation, and government will discuss the importance of and critical priorities for advocacy; building relationships with elected officials; sources for fact-based information on a wide range of topics; and strategies for advocating effectively.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and tools to advocate for causes and topics of importance to them in a fact-based and effective manner. In addition, learn how to set personal priorities, and identify organizations that could benefit from your skills and enthusiasm. This workshop outlines how state and federal legislation is enacted and focuses on key elected officials that represent the Asheville area at the local, state, and federal levels.
