Announcing the annual Asheville Cinema Festival 2014

From a Press Release:

Announcing the Annual Asheville Cinema Festival 2014

The Asheville Cinema Festival (ACF) is thrilled to present films November 6-9, that are currently receiving awards at some of the top film festivals around the country at the 4th (fourth) annual film festival.  The Asheville Cinema Festival (ACF) 2011 screened ‘The Artist’, ACF 2012, ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ and ‘Quartet’, at ACF 2013, ‘August: Osage County’ and ‘Mandela: A Long Walk to Freedom’

ACF was founded by Tom and Sandi Anton in 2011.  The founders of ACF first established the Ashville Cinema Society (ACS) in 2010 and the festival was born out of the film society. Tom and Sandi are filmmakers in their own right having produced, written and directed two feature films, ‘At Last’  www.atlastthemovie.com and ‘The Pardon’ www.thepardonmovie.com.   It is through Tom’s connections within the industry that he is able to secure Academy Award winning films for the festival.  ACF’s goal is to bring beautifully crafted independent films to the area, films that otherwise may not have been shown in Asheville.

ACF 2014 is proud to bring ‘The Imitation Game’ starring Benedict Cumberbach and Kiera Knightley to the screen opening night, November 6th at 7pm at the Fine Arts Theatre. The film will be followed by an after party at the Century Room of Pack’s Tavern where complimentary appetizers will be offered along with a cash bar.   We are very excited to include the Fine Arts Theatre as one of our venues this year allowing us to hold the entire festival downtown.

ACF 2014 closing night film stars Annette Benning, Ed Harris and Robin Williams in ‘The Face of Love’ which was Robin Williams last film, a film about love wrapped in mystery. It will screen on Sunday, November 9th @ 7pm at the Asheville Community Theatre.  All the films slated for this year’s festival whether documentary, animation, narrative drama, short films, student films or comedy promise to make you laugh, make you cry, scare you or make you think.

The Jury Awards will be given on Saturday after the last show, November 8th at Strada Restaurant at approximately 9:00pm.  The unique award was created by JP Sullivan and the ‘work in progress’ is displayed on the back of the festival guide.  Come to the after party for the unveiling of the finished product.  Strada will supply complimentary appetizers and a cash bar.  This year’s Award Party is always exciting as filmmakers receive their one-of-a-kind awards.

The festival would not be what it is without the support of our volunteers and sponsors.  We are especially grateful for BMW and all the businesses and individuals that help make this year’s festival possible.
