Students from Caldwell, Burke and Catawba Counties compete in the third annual high school Shakespeare monologue competition on Saturday, March 28. The public is invited.

Nineteen high school students from traditional and private schools in Caldwell, Burke and Catawba Counties are preparing for the 3rd Annual High School Shakespeare Monologue Competition sponsored by the Caldwell Arts Council, in conjunction with Caldwell County Schools.
Recitation is an exciting way for students to increase their appreciation for language and to demonstrate their mastery of public speaking.
This year’s competitors are expected to memorize and recite a monologue from any of Shakespeare’s plays. Cash prizes totaling $1,050 will be awarded to the top finishers.
The public is invited to watch these talented students at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir on Saturday, March 28, 9:30am-12 noon, free of charge.
