In early December, the Asheville Choral Society will offer two performances of their second annual Yuletide Candlelight program—a new family tradition for the holidays. At 7:30 p.m. on December 2 and again at 4:30 p.m. on December 3, the choir will hold their candlelight procession in the beautiful Trinity Episcopal Church on 60 Church Street, Asheville.
The music will be festive and beautiful with Christmas and seasonal favorites, children’s voices, and brass! Selections will include: Ave Maria by Franz Biebl, the classic “Carol of the Bells,” Ola Gjeilo’s arrangement of “The Coventry Carol” and James MacMillan’s stunning “Who Are These Angels?” You will want to bring the whole family and enjoy this sparkling annual tradition. Be sure to celebrate this annual tradition with the Asheville Choral Society.

The Asheville Choral Society’s Artistic Director, Dr. Melodie Galloway, has programmed an exciting series of concerts to celebrate the group’s 40th season. In March, the choir will be part of the Asheville Amadeus Festival with their concert entitled “Mozart March Madness.” And in April, the Asheville Choral Society and the Asheville Symphony Chorus will present a joint concert, called “Asheville in Vienna,” previewing their European Concert Tour the following month.
About the Asheville Choral Society
The Asheville Choral Society has garnered a reputation as one of Asheville’s premiere music organizations, praised for the versatility, originality, and challenging nature of its programming. Made up of some 100 volunteer, auditioned singers ranging in age from 18 to 80, the ACS is in its 40th season. The group was founded in 1977 by the late Dr. Robert P. Keener, Music Director Emeritus, who led the group for its first 23 seasons.
