The City of Asheville annually awards Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) as part of a federal grant program through Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that provides funding for a variety of projects and programs that serve low- and moderate-income residents.The City of Asheville Community Development Division administers these funds and has set informational meetings on the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The program provides annual grants to states, cities, and counties to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons. Examples of past grants awarded locally include money for low-income home repair, homeless services and emergency shelter for people experiencing domestic violence.Two informational meetings will be held virtually; and interested individuals, organizations and nonprofits are welcome to attend:
