The Asheville Poetry Review 2019 Matthews Poetry Prize reading is Saturday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m. in Malaprop’s Bookstore.

Here are the final three winners for the 2019 William Matthews Poetry Prize, as selected by Dorianne Laux, who was our final judge. The winners are as follows:
First Place: “The Lions of Chauvet” by Jude Nutter
Second Place: “Blessing” by Sarah Rose Nordgen
Third Place: “Approaching My Brother, I Think of Karl Wallenda” by Joshua Martin
