Press releases from National Park Service:
Tall Tales to Tell on Trails
Join Parkway rangers at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 28th for a night of family fun and education. Stories have been a part of nature ever since humans developed language. From campfire ghost stories to Cherokee myths, the Appalachians are full of tales! We’ll be telling stories, making journals, and even showing you how to tell your own adventures. Don’t go into the woods without a tale or two in your pocket!
Meet at the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Center, Milepost 384, and come ready to tell some tall tales.
Registration is required for Family Night. Call (828) 298-5330, ext. 304 for more information and to reserve your spot.
Ancient Waters Around Asheville
Join Parkway rangers at 10:00 am on Friday, July 29th for an easy to moderate, 2.5 mile roundtrip hike along the French Broad River floodway. We will talk about the third oldest river in the world, the flood of 1916, and the history of development in the area.
Meet at the dirt pull-off on the northern end of the French Broad River Bridge at Milepost 393.5.
Bring water, wear good walking shoes, long pants (there is always a chance for poison ivy) and be prepared for changeable weather.
For more information, contact 828-298-5330, ext. 304.
