The Asheville Downtown Association hosts a St. Patrick’s Day-themed kickoff party for Downtown After 5, the free summer concert series held third Fridays, May-September. The kickoff party, held at The Orange Peel on Tuesday, March 17, includes the lineup announcement and an orientation for Downtown After 5 volunteers.

The Asheville Downtown Association will announce the lineup for the 27th season of Downtown After 5 Music Series (DA5), presented by Prestige Subaru, on Tuesday, March 17 at The Orange Peel. The Blood Gypsies and special guest, GregBob Hollowell from Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, will perform and the event will feature a St. Patrick’s Day theme.
This year’s announcement will be open to the public at the super low ticket price of just $5, with funds supporting the philanthropic work of the Asheville Downtown Association. Doors open to the public at 7pm, with the lineup announcement at 7:15pm and The Blood Gypsies taking the stage at 7:30pm.

Based in Asheville, The Blood Gypsies create an original interpretation of southern soul, jazz, R&B and rock with old school sensibilities in modern times. Special guests will join the band adding to the St. Patrick’s Day party theme.
“This year’s lineup brings a lot of diversity to the Downtown After 5 stage. There’s definitely something for everybody, plus attendees will be introduced to some new bands,” said event co-chair, Ben Colvin.
Downtown After 5 is always free and occurs the third Friday of the month from May through September on Lexington Avenue near the I240 overpass. Now in its 27th year, DA5 has featured St. Paul & The Broken Bones, The Revivalists, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, The Black Lillies and more.
