Haywood Regional Medical Center hosts “Dinner with the Doc” seminar on breast cancer Oct. 13

Dinner with the Doc – “Breast Cancer – Where Are We Now and What’s Next?”

Dr. Allison Johnson, a physician with Haywood Surgical Associates, will be presenting the “Dinner with the Doc” seminar “Breast Cancer: Where Are We Now and What’s Next?” on Thursday, October 13 at 6 p.m. at the Haywood Regional Medical Center – Café. Dr. Johnson and Breast Care Nurse Navigator, Johanna Dewees, RN will speak while patrons enjoy a healthy meal. Afterward, they will circulate to visit with guests and answer questions. Johnson has been practicing as a surgeon with Haywood Surgical Associates since 2013. She received her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed residency in General Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She also completed a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dewees completed her BSN at UNC-Chapel Hill, received Biomedical Electronics Technology (BMET-AD) training at Dekalb Community College in Atlanta and also attended undergrad at Brevard College. She has worked for 39 years as an RN and helps support and guide breast cancer patients and their families throughout their course of treatment. Watch for an additional “Dinner with the Doc” seminar on November 17 on the topic of Lung Cancer. Seminars typically occur on the 3rd Thursday of the month approximately 10 times a year.
