Majik Studios and MG Mills Studio selected for National Juried Fiber Show

Press release from Majik Studios:

Marbled wearable art pieces by local artists Pam Granger Gale and Marcia Mills have been selected for “A Stitch to Wear: Wearable Art Exhibition” in Cumberland County, Maryland at the Allegany Arts Council, 9 N. Centre Street, Cumberland, MD. A marbled vest with matching bow tie and pocket square were juried into the exhibition. Majik Studios and MG Mills Studio collaborated on the three piece matching ensemble. Lime green and black paint was swirled to create an abstract, contemporary formal wear design.

The exhibition will be displayed from Saturday, December 7th to Saturday, December 28, 2019. A juror’s talk will be held at 5:15 pm before the opening reception and awards presentation on Saturday, December 7th.

Juror Renate Maile-Moskowitz selected the work for the Arts Council’s Wearable Art Competition & Exhibition. Maile-Moskowitz, of Smithsonian Associates, an artist well known for her textile knowledge in felt-making, silk and sericulture production, plant dyeing, lace and paper-making.

Majik Studios owner, Pam Granger Gale, has been marbling for over 30 years at various locations around the southeast. She has studied with Dan and Regina St. John, Judith Beers, Anne Murray, and Ginny Moreland, each time perfecting her craft of marbling. “It was a real honor to have our design chosen by such a widely respected artist as Maile-Moskowitz,” says Pam. “We’re happy to have our work on exhibit in such prestigious arts community in the northeastern region.”

MG Mills Studio owner, Marcia Mills, has over 30 years of extensive experience in garment creation, and fabrication. She has studied with Anne Baddeley, and Lois Rector perfecting her weaving and fiber techniques. Marcia was delighted that her collaborative piece with Pam was accepted in the exhibit. “This was such exciting news to us!” she said. “We had so much fun creating this piece.”
