ASHEVILLE, N.C. (Dec. 9, 2015) — Mission Hospital has received another “A” grade in an independent review of 28 hospital safety measures in a recent report by the Leapfrog Group.
Leapfrog rated more than 2,500 hospitals using government safety data and voluntary disclosure.
“This recognition from Leapfrog is a testament to our thousands of caregivers across Mission Heath who work tirelessly every day to improve the care we provide to our patients,” said Chris DeRienzo, MD, Chief Patient Safety Officer and Vice President of Mission Health. “They are a truly committed, caring and highly skilled team of professionals focused on our BIG(GER) Aim: To get each patient to the desired outcome, first without harm, also without waste and with an exceptional experience for the patient and family. ”
Leapfrog, based in Washington, D.C., is one of the oldest and most-respected external benchmarking agencies for hospitals nationwide. It publishes the Hospital Safety Score biannually in an effort to drive “quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health system.” Of note, Mission Hospital also received an “A” grade this past spring.
In the national fall survey, 31 percent of hospitals received an “A” grade, 29 percent a “B” grade and 34 percent a “C” grade. Additionally, 133 received “D” grades and 34 earned “F” grades.
