From the Rainbow Community School:
RAINBOW COMMUNITY SCHOOL TO HOST ITS ANNUAL WINTER PROGRAM CELEBRATING UNITY THROUGH MUSIC
Asheville, North Carolina, December 13, 2016 — Each December, Rainbow Community School (RCS) hosts an annual winter program during which the staff and students of RCS celebrate the true meaning of the holidays by sharing original songs that embrace the human values that unite us. Last year’s winter program, filled with all original songs about Love, was such a huge hit. This year, we have chosen to honor our connections to diverse local and global communities by creating and performing songs in cultural styles from all around the world.
The theme of “Unity Through Music” is particularly relevant given the divisiveness of the state of our nation and world. We know that music is universal, but how we express ourselves through music, the styles, rhythms, vocalizations and scales of music… that’s a whole different story. Teachers, students and parents came together to collaborate with Sue Ford, Rainbow’s award winning Music Director, on the best ways to creatively and respectfully bring their heart-felt lyrics together with music styles ranging from American Soul to East Indian Bhairavi Thaat. The program is comprised of student-created and teacher-facilitated original music.
We are so excited to welcome you into this holiday tradition, with a special focus on the ways music can inspire us to unite through difference. Come and allow RCS to guide you through a musical process that fosters diversity and understanding. Bring your friends and family for a touching night of loving music during this holiday season! Admission is free. The morning performance on December 16, 2016 is from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. and the evening performance is from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Location: Rainbow Community Center & Auditorium 60 State St, Asheville, NC 28806

It just produces a blank “Mountain Xpress” page.
