If you happened to miss the River Arts District Studio Stroll earlier this month, the artists at Riverview Station are giving the public another chance to visit their workspace on Saturday, June 13.
“Traditionally, the official Studio Stroll has been held in June, up until this past Spring,” says Jeri Bartley, one of the artists participating in the upcoming event. “This year [the RADA organizers] moved it up to May, during the same weekend as LEAF and Mother’s Day.” Bartley says that the artists of Riverview Station wanted to provide an opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the art stroll for those who may not have been able to make the official date this year.
The event will feature more than 70 artists working in 15 mediums throughout the building, which is located at 191 Lyman Street in the RAD. Demonstrations will include throwing and painting presentations by Clay 5 Ways, a watercolors demonstration with French Broad Artists, and live performance painting with Jonas Gerard, among others throughout the day, according to the event’s official Facebook page.
In addition to presentations, there will be several interactive workshops with artists, where attendees can make their own mosaics, pendants, and play around with clay. Food and refreshments will be provided throughout the day by Happy Lucky Food Truck, Sunshine Sammies, and 2 Brothers Drink Stand.
Bartley encourages art lovers and families alike to come see the variety of unique work artists will be presenting. “We’ve got a really interesting line-up going! It should be a lot of fun for everyone involved.”
