PRESS RELEASE:
The busy spring arts calendar in Transylvania County Schools turns next to Brevard Middle School, whose bands will present a Spring Concert this Tuesday, May 17th, at 7:00pm in the Brevard High School Auditorium.
Drawing from several genres, the versatile sixth, seventh, and eighth grade bands will offer something for all listeners. Noting the release of “The Force Awakens” and the recent Brevard Philharmonic concert showcasing film composer John Williams, some themes will seem quite familiar. Guest stars may also appear to liven up the proceedings on-stage.
Sixth grade will show off their patriotic stripes with American Folk Songs and Marches. Seventh grade will take the audience on a journey over the ocean blue with sea chanteys and the music of “Pirates.” Eighth grade will close the program in a galaxy far, far away, serving up music from all seven movies in the “Star Wars” film franchise.
General admission is $2 for students, $3 for adults, and a $5 family pass for performers’ families.
This and many other arts events coming up across Transylvania County Schools are all open to the general public. Performances are made possible by the help of active community members within and outside the school family, and guests of all ages are welcome to attend.
