Now in its second season, Dr. Bill Bares’ Take Two Jazz series has a track record of filling the White Horse Black Mountain with the sounds of innovative, one of a kind improvisatory shows. On Monday, February 2 at 7:30 Bares and his piano team up with Asheville multi-instrumentalist Michael Libramento for an evening of duo creativity. Followers of the Asheville music scene know Michael Libramento as a member of local bands Floating Action, stephaniesid, Ice Cream, Jar-e and Coconut Cake, as well as jazzy trios with Shane Perlowin. Among the instruments he’s mastered are drums, keyboards, guitar and bass, and his work as a studio player and producer can be heard on numerous recordings. He stepped into the national spotlight in 2011 when he joined Grace Potter and the Nocturnals as a touring and recording member. Taking a break from the big stages, Libramento’s Black Mountain appearance with Bares affords an opportunity for this versatile player to indulge his improvisational side in a listening room setting.
