WCQS president Jody Evans departs station

Here’s the parting message from WCQS President Jody Evans, sent to radio station supporters Dec. 5 via email newsletter:

Dear friend:

It’s with bittersweet emotions that I write this email. Today is my last day at WCQS. Since arriving four and half years ago, it has been my honor and privilege to serve this community and to bring growth and greater stability to this station. WCQS means so much to so many people in Western North Carolina, and I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support and thank you for allowing me to be a part of it.

It was not easy to make the choice to leave WCQS, but in accepting the position as President and CEO of the Public Radio Program Directors Association (PRPD), I will be working with many public radio stations and their boards to bring new content to stations. Public radio is constantly exploring ways to deliver programming across existing and emerging media platforms and integrate radio with digital and mobile content. I look forward to helping WCQS and public radio stations across the nation succeed in what, for all of us, is a rapidly changing media landscape.

Fortunately this position will also allow me and my family to remain in Asheville. Like you, I will continue to enjoy WCQS as a listener and member. It is an exciting time in the stations’ history and I look forward to being a part of WCQS’ bright future. I hope you do too.

Warmest regards and happy holidays

Jody Evans
President and CEO
