Door prizes, great kids’ activities, free flu shots, and more.

Marion, North Carolina, October 27, 2015 — The Corpening YMCA and Blue Ridge, an affiliate of Carolinas HealthCare System, are partnering to offer a free Family Fun Day for residents of McDowell County on Saturday, November 7, 2015, from 10am until 1pm. The event will be held at the new Marion Medical Plaza, located at 2293 Sugar Hill Road, Marion, NC.

The event will offer free health assessments, including glucose screenings, chiropractic, bone density screenings, and much more. Local medical professionals will be available for question-and-answer sessions and an insurance specialist will be on hand to answer insurance inquiries. The family-friendly day will feature healthy snacks as well as healthy cooking samples for everyone to try. Parents can have car-seat safety checks performed by certified professionals, and there will be inflatables, face painting, balloon artists, and a visit from the firehouse for kids.

The YMCA and Carolinas HeathCare System are committed to improving the well-being of our community through physical activity and health promotion. The YMCA of Western North Carolina is addressing medical conditions common throughout the region, such as cancer and diabetes, through programs like our Diabetes Prevention Program, Taking Control of Type 2, and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA for cancer survivors. Representatives from the YMCA will be at the fair to offer information on these and other YMCA programs that support healthy living.
