From a press release:
Yogis Beyond Coal and Sierra Club will present “Move for the Movement,” July 12
This Saturday, July 12, Yogis Beyond Coal and Sierra Club will present “Move for the Movement”, featuring public yoga practice and climate activism that will make clear the strong link between the health benefits of yoga practice, clean air, clean water and clean energy sources.
Asheville’s Coal plant is the largest single source of climate disrupting carbon pollution in Western North Carolina. It is polluting both our groundwater and the French Broad River with toxic heavy metals from coal ash, and emits air pollutants that threaten our health. Yogis Beyond Coal is a collaboration of leading local yoga teachers and the Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal campaign, which works to retire the Asheville coal plant and realize a vision of a world where all beings have clean air, clean water, and a stable climate.
