Mountain Xpress and Sherwood’s Music Present: Luzius Stone-attachment0

Luzius Stone is the musical project of Etowah, North Carolina native Justin Miles. His music shows an influence from his early love of hiphop (he cites the Beastie Boys and Wu-Tang Clan among his early favorites) while incorporating dance beats and rock choruses. Other influences include Joy Division, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beck and Miles’ musician father, who passed away unexpectedly when Miles was 14. Miles writes that the grief from losing his father eventually inspired the mixing of aggressive lyrics and chant-like melodies in his music.

Miles spent a year in Germany working on and co-producing his yet-to-be released album Electric Dream (on which “Past Life” will appear) before bringing his work back to Echo Mountain for the final stages. Putting together the album meant a sudden and decisive move to Germany for Miles and his wife, Hanah, who made the move along with fellow Asheville musicians The Enemy Lovers.

In live performances, Luzius Stone may be a Miles solo performance or include drummer Rob Elzey and guitarist Jason Lemon. The group doesn’t currently have any upcoming shows but you can connect with them on Facebook to check for updates. For more information on Miles and Luzius Stone, visit LuziusStone.com.
