Finish those ballots: Best of WNC 2016 voting wrapping up soon

A hard climb can be the most satisfying when one reaches the top. Many businesses are working hard to earn your vote for Mountain Xpress‘ Best of WNC 2016, so that they can stand at the top of the mountain above the rest. It isn’t up to the paper to decide though, strong results only come with broad and deep participation. It is up to you, dear readers, and time is running out for your voice to be heard.

Voting is almost wrapped-up for the beloved annual Best of WNC awards. You have until  11:59 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 to complete your ballot and make sure your voice is heard. Folks should allow at least 15 minutes to vote, but those who savor the experience can really take their time. So why not get to it now?

It remains to be seen who will keep their crown from last year and what new winners will climb to the top! When the voting closes, the results will be painstakingly tallied. And results will be announced in August. Watch for the Best Of WNC double issues where you can find out who made the cut for “Best Restaurant,” “Store That Best Represents The Spirit Of Asheville,” “Most Dangerous Street For Pedestrians” and so many more.

In order for your ballot to be counted, you must vote in at least 30 categories. That requirement can feel a nuisance for some. But according to the Best Of Team here at Xpress, it is one of the strongest contributors to reliable results. Not only does it put the brakes on cheating attempts, it also encourages voters who are knowledgeable and passionate about more aspects of our vibrant community. The 30-item minimum seems to be a reasonably small impediment with great benefit to the process.

Visit mountainx.com/bestofwnc to begin voting.

If you have a ballot already started and still need to finish, you must access it through the link in the email originally sent to you when you registered. The email would be from “Ballot Administrator,” webmaster@mountainx.com. Don’t forget to check your ballot! The difference between first and second place could be your vote.

I have tried three times to have you send me a ballot. Don’t know what the problem is (have checked my junk mail regularly and still nothing today. Maybe you don’t care to hear from Haywood County folks???
