It was almost exactly a year ago that local indie-pop band stephaniesĭd launched ĭd Weekly a month-long residency in the upstairs lounge of Isis Restaurant & Music Hall. Included in those weekly intimate concerts was a segment called “night of bravery” in which members of the audience could take the stage for up to five minutes. Also to be filed under acts of bravery, the members of stephaniesĭd used the weekly sessions to try out material being worked up for a new album.
Well, that album is here. It’s called Excavator — an apt name since, as the band explains on its bio, “The ĭd (pronounced like ‘kid’) is the real person, under the armor. It’s the inner wild being, the emotional mercury, the soft tissue, the genuine human. stephaniesĭd is a pop-noir band working to excavate it.” And while Xpress hasn’t heard it yet either, stephaniesĭd did recently post this teaser on Soundcloud:
Fittingly, stephaniesĭd holds the local launch for Excavator at Isis. The show is on Saturday, May 2, at 9 p.m. Hudson K opens. $10 advance/$12 at the door.
