The aSHEville Museum in downtown Asheville will host an evening lecture on October 20 from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. focused on Asheville residents Jennifer MacDonald and Vanessa Bell‘s work and experiences assisting Syrian refugees in several camps in Lebanon over the course of this past summer.
MacDonald and Bell will share their reflections and stories from the camps, as well as their work from a recent exhibit, (DIS)placed — Life as a tent city refugee, and their grassroots project, Hadaya Toys, which seeks to collect and distribute toys, books and art supplies to child refugees living in the camps.
In addition to their presentation, a short video documenting their travels will be aired, followed by a question-and-answer period afterwards. The event is open to the public and free to attend.
