Mountain Xpress and Sherwood’s Music are partnering to showcase local musicians through a series of stripped-down performances for the web. This week Albert Adams performs “Critters Never Die.”

Albert Adams is Thomas “Albert” McNeely and Jordan Adams. The two have been friends since high school and formed Albert Adams in 2009. In late 2013, they released their EP more of less every other day, in addition to playing shows at the Orange Peel and the Moog Factory as part of the AHA AVL series (where McNeely also played as part of Decent Lovers.)

The music of Albert Adams can be difficult to describe. Here are some of the previous attempts: “alternative dance music,” “hyperkraut,” “math rock,” “music from the center of the noise-vortex,” and “loud, aggressive and willing to go out on a limb.” McNeely recently moved to the Raleigh area, and though Albert Adams will continue to perform shows in the Asheville area later this year, for now they are best enjoyed at albertadams.bandcamp.com.

Taylor Rogers, who appears in this video, is an Asheville-based comedian. He will perform at The Mothlight on Saturday, Feb. 1. as one-half of Late Night Show Asheville Tonight.
