Nashville-based Annie and the Hot Club brings a distinct style of Gypsy-swing to Isis Restaurant & Music Hall. The veteran group is composed of award-winning musicians including singer Annie Sellick, voted best jazz artist five years running by Nasheville Scene, and fingerstyle guitarist Richard Smith, a 2009 Thumbpickers Hall of Fame inductee. The six-piece outfit has toured extensively around the world and played prestigious events like the Montreal Jazz Festival and the Tommy Emmanuel Guitar Festival in Germany.
The band’s sound is described has having fiery guitars mixed with violin solos and fronted by Sellick’s perky storytelling and hard-swinging vocals. Those vocals have earned Sellick the opportunity to record with the likes of Mark O’Connor’s Hot Swing, Tommy Emmanuel and Grammy-nominated jazz organist Joey DeFrancesco.
