Local country band Deep River performs at Isis on July 3

PRESS RELEASE FROM DEEP RIVER:

After 23 years of performing in Nashville and Asheville Deep River will finally get to bring its unique recipe for Southern country music ‘stew’ including covers and originals flavored with rock, blues, Cajun, folk and bluegrass so you can swing, two-step, shag or clog the night away at Isis Restaurant & Music Hall on Sunday, July 3rd at 7:30pm.

Whether performing one of their original songs like ‘Civil War’ which was recently played on Asheville’s KISS Country 99 FM, or those of musical heroes like Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, Linda Ronstadt or the Eagles, what sets Deep River apart is soaring three-part harmonies from the three front women, Sharon Lewis (vocals and bass guitar) Sandy Howard (vocals and acoustic guitar) and Joan D’Entremont (vocals and hand percussion) accompanied by talented instrumentalists, Gerry Brown (pedal steel/dobro/acoustic guitar) Alec Fehl (lead guitar/acoustic guitar) and drummer Justin Watt.

After hearing Deep River sing one of their own compositions, ‘Remember Always’, live on the Bell Buckle (Tennessee) Jamboree Radio Show, the late Charlie Louvin of Louvin Brothers fame told the country vocal group, “I’d like to hear y’all play that song on the Grand Ole Opry.” While they haven’t yet played the Opry, Deep River has sung with Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill, as well as opened for country star Mark Wills and the ‘First Lady of Bluegrass’, Wilma Lee Cooper.

Tickets are $10 in advance/$12 at the door, and can be purchased from Isis Restaurant & Music Hall: http://isisasheville.com/events/an-evening-with-deep-river
