Peruvian shamanism book and art event at The White Horse, Oct. 15

PRESS RELEASE FROM WHITE HORSE BLACK MOUNTAIN:

The Peruvian Amazon is home to a rich shamanic tradition of curanderos who offer healing, counseling and divination. Prayer, ritual, plant medicine and psychic healing can be called upon by the practitioner, and many people seeking to understand and benefit from curanderismo have made pilgrimages to South America. Local seekers won’t have to travel that far when Black Mountain author Lois Chazen and Peruvian visionary painter Mauro Reátegui Perez visit the White Horse Black Mountain on Saturday, October 15 beginning at 12 noon.

Lois Chazen has written several books that reflect her deep connection to the natural world, and she’ll be reading form her latest, The Key:Truths of the Universe at the White Horse. Her late friend Bobbie Tyler gifted her the rights to recreate in book form the spiritual insights she originally received and transcribed between 1983 and 1986. Before her 2013 passing, Bobbie Tyler stated, “In the last series of messages, I was told it was the dawning of a new beginning”. Lois will offer signed copies of The Key for sale at the event.

Visiting artist Mauro Reátegui Perez will also create a painting on site in his signature vividly colored and symbolically rich style while sharing his process. Born in Mariscal Castilla, Peru, he trained with renowned visionary artist Pablo Amaringo at the Usko-Ayar Amazonian School of painting and graduated in 1995. His internationally recognized art, infused with dreamlike cosmology filled with Amazonian jungle plants, animals, and spirits, is inspired by his personal spiritual journey with plant medicines and interviews with shamans. In addition to his art work, Mauro is also a teacher and guide with a deep knowledge of the cultural life of Peruvian Amazonia.

Event starts at 12 p.m. $8 love offering, kids free.
