Fall course catalog now available for OLLI College for Seniors

Press release from UNC Asheville:

The fall 2017 course catalog for the College for Seniors at UNC Asheville’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is now available online. Online course registration will be held from 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10, through noon on Thursday, Aug. 17. Paper copies of the catalog and in-person assistance with registration will be available during this time at the Reuter Center on the UNC Asheville campus.

Course topics include history and hiking, the arts and culture, and academic exploration in the sciences and humanities. There are no tests, grades or credits. Most classes meet at the Reuter Center on UNC Asheville’s campus. Course descriptions and dates are now posted online at olliasheville.com.

Everyone registering by the noon Aug. 17 deadline will have an equal opportunity to be enrolled in some of the recent favorites like Trains and the Transformation of Western North Carolina, Pirates of the Caribbean and Beyond, Peanuts and Cracker Jack: Events that Shaped Baseball History, and the annual Appalachian Sampler—which is an exploration of the southern Appalachian highlands through its unique history, culture, music and folkways.

Fall classes range in duration from four to eight weeks, beginning Monday, Sept. 18. The fall term course fee is $115 for an unlimited number of courses taught and taken by members of OLLI. Membership in OLLI is $75 annually and includes parking, borrowing privileges at UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library and other benefits.
