Smart bets: Space Jesus

Chicken and waffles have lost their innocence, and all it took was one freaky music video by Space Jesus — an electronic music producer Vice aptly dubbed “the human equivalent of a marijuana plant.” His single “The Weed” hinges around a looped hip-hop declaration: “I’ve been smoking weed for a very long time.” The accompanying short film provides similar information without words. As the action winds down and Space Jesus balances 20 perfectly bronzed Belgian waffles between his and his lover’s face, numerous questions arise, one being: “What happens at his shows?” Find out when Space Jesus (or Jasha Tull, if you ask his Brooklyn neighbors) brings his alien rave tunes to the Asheville Music Hall Saturday, Dec. 12, at 10 p.m. $5/$10. ashevillemusichall.com.
