PRESS RELEASE:
Saluda’s Labor Day weekend kicks off on Friday, September 2 with the Top Of The Grade Concert Series presenting Aaron Burdett and his band at McCreery Park at 7 p.m.
Building on the traditions of the finest performing songwriters, Aaron’s original Americana music blends folk-rock, bluegrass, and blues into a sound that is at once totally original but also comfortingly familiar. Based in Saluda, Aaron shares a singular perspective on the world around us, connections to places and people, and the simple pleasures of life through his thoughtfully crafted songs. His honest songwriting pours in between hammer-on chord changes and rolling cross-picking rhythms.
His sixth full-length project, “Tinderbox,” released in 2015, was recorded with his dynamic road band at Crossroads Studios for Organic Records. Filled with songs of hope and heartache, it swells and swings from anger to resolute calm and back again. Amanda Platt of The Honeycutters adds a touch of harmony vocals on several songs. With Burdett’s vocals in the Van Morrison, John Hiatt and even Jack Johnson camp, critics are quick to attribute his greatest impact to his authentic singing voice.
All Top Of The Grade Concerts take place in the heart of town in McCreery Park. They begin at 7 p.m., rain or shine. (In case of heavy rain, bands will move to the pavilion in McCreery Park.) Concertgoers are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Coolers are welcome, and local restaurants are open.
The Top Of The Grade Concerts are made possible through a community grant from Polk County Community Foundation. All concerts are free to the public through a Free Community Events grant. Top Of The Grade Concerts are coordinated by the Saluda Downtown Foundation and produced this year by Peter Eisenbrown of Blockparty Productions.
