ASHEVILLE, NC (March 21, 2016)— ASAP (Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project) is pleased to announce that they have received a $45,000 grant from The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina for the Communicating the Farm Story with Appalachian Grown project.
Through this project ASAP will work with farmers and farmers markets in Western North Carolina to craft and communicate their stories. The resulting impact will be to increase local farm sales, provide farmers and markets with tools and training, improve marketing strategies thereby strengthening the customer base of farmers in the region, and build meaningful and lasting connections between the community and local farms. Ultimately, this project will meet ASAP’s overall goal to build a democratic food system that engages the community with local farms.
“Stories are more than marketing,” said Molly Nicholie, ASAP’s Local Food Campaign Director, “They have the capacity to bring consumers closer to the processes of farming and food production, providing authenticity and connection to the Appalachian Grown™ brand.”
Funding for the Communicating the Farm Story with Appalachian Grown project is provided by a grant from The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina.
