Asheville resident directs Jungian play, Feb. 6

From a press release:

From playwright and Jungian analyst Elizabeth Clark-Stern, Out of the Shadows is a two-woman reader’s theater production directed by Asheville resident Carol Kessler and featuring Carol B. Cole & Alexandra McPherson. The play will be held Friday, Feb. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at Parish Hall, Cathedral of All Souls, Biltmore Village, Asheville. The performance will be followed by a discussion led by Asheville Jungian analysts Massimilla and Bud Harris.

Emma Jung, aspiring to help her husband found a new psychology, and Toni Wolff, Carl Jung’s lover and muse, for decades were passionate rivals for Jung’s mind and heart. “Ultimately, Toni and Emma discover that their individual development is informed by both their antagonism, and their common ground. They struggle to know the essence of the enemy, the other, and to claim the power and depth of their own nature.”

What reviewers have said about Out of the Shadows:

“This play is not only engrossing, but deeply satisfying.”

“This play is absolutely remarkable…..A masterful and compelling work that anyone even vaguely interested in Carl Jung must read and, if possible, see in person. It is wise, deep and moving.”

“An unexpected and insightful play and literary composition…. not to be missed.”
