Bob Moog Foundation, Aloft Asheville Downtown partner to bring Moogseum poster exhibit to hotel

Press release from McKibbon Hospitality:

The Bob Moog Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of Dr. Bob Moog, beloved inventor of the Moog synthesizer, has partnered with Aloft Asheville Downtown to host a pop-up art exhibit at the hotel’s gallery celebrating Bob’s influential impact on the music community in Asheville and the world at large.

The exhibit will feature framed synthesizer-themed art posters from the Foundation’s Moogseum, an immersive and interactive museum where Bob Moog’s pioneering legacy and the science of sound comes alive to inspire people of all ages.

To celebrate the exhibit’s unveiling, the hotel will host a Meet the Artist event with Bob’s daughter and founder of the Bob Moog Foundation, Michelle Moog-Koussa, on Thursday, May 20 from 5-8 p.m. with themed cocktails, including Synth & Sin, a delicious white sangria, Bob’s Bourbon Smash, and the Moog Mule, a live DJ, as well as opportunities purchase Moogseum tickets and merchandise,
including art prints and apparel.

The Moogseum, located at 56 Broadway Street in downtown Asheville, serves as an educational, historical, and cultural resource to the worldwide electronic music community and Western North Carolina, where Bob lived and taught for nearly 30 years. Visitors can play synthesizers and theremins, the inspiration behind Bob’s creation, learn how electricity becomes sound and delve into more than 1,000 pieces of archival material, including rare photographs, through custom-designed touchscreen kiosks.

The exhibit and partnership with the Bob Moog Foundation continue Aloft Asheville Downtown’s long-standing commitment to supporting and celebrating Asheville’s local artists and purveyors through its local art program. The hotel proudly pays homage to the Asheville art community by displaying the work of local artists throughout all public spaces, guestrooms, and suites which celebrate the city’s creative and unique culture such as the expansive, eye-catching piece in the lobby’s two-level entryway honoring legendary musicians who have toured in Asheville, including B.B. King, Johnny Cash, Pearl Jam, and more, from local artist Scott Allred, co-owner of Brushcan Studios. In addition to featuring local and regional artists throughout the hotel, Aloft Asheville Downtown proudly showcases local emerging musicians through the Live@Aloft music series with live, acoustic performances.
