Grammy winner Laura Story to perform at Lake Junaluska

Press release:

Laura Story will perform July 3 at Lake Junaluska as part of the Independence Day Celebrations

Story is a well-known contemporary Christian artist who has been recognized for her amazing musical ability and knack for getting to the heart of difficult issues. Her song “Blessings” won a GRAMMY award, a Billboard Music Award and three Dove Awards. Her fifth studio album, “Open Hands,” was released in March 2017.

“’Open Hands’ is more than just a lesson God is teaching me right now,” Story said. “It’s the lifestyle God calls every Christian to live. It’s about surrender, and trusting God with the smallest details, as well as our greatest struggles.”

Story writes her own songs, is a powerful storyteller and worship leader, and often draws from personal struggles in her own life for inspiration. She has an ability to connect with others through her gift of music and her way with words.

Lake Junaluska Executive Director Jack Ewing originally met Story in 2010 at a conference for United Methodist campus ministers, where he said he was immediately impressed by her spirit.

“She is a very gifted artist and I have enjoyed watching her career continue to develop over the last seven years,” Ewing said. “I am thrilled that she is going to be performing in Stuart Auditorium as it’s something I’ve hoped would happen since I met her.”

Story’s performance will be part of a three-day concert series during Fourth of July at Lake Junaluska. The series begins with a performance by Balsam Range on July 2 and ends with a concert by the Lake Junaluska Singers on July 4.

There will be a number of other Independence Day activities happening at Lake Junaluska from July 2-4, including a barbecue picnic, parade, square dance and family olympics competition, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display on the evening of July 4. All are welcome to join this special holiday event at the lake. Lodging packages in Lake Junaluska’s lakeside hotels are available.

Tickets for Laura Story and the other concerts are now on sale. Tickets are available online at lakejunaluska.com/concerts or by calling the Bethea Welcome Center daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 800-222-4930.
