From the N.C. Cooperative Extension Henderson County Center:
PUT IT UP! Youth Food Preservation Camp
What better way to enjoy all our local foods than learning how to safely preserve them for the winter? Kids, ages 9 to 12, are invited to participate in a six day hands-on workshop June 19 -23 and June 26, 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the Henderson County Extension Center in Jackson Park, located in Hendersonville.
Kids will learn how to make jam, pickles, how to freeze and dry foods, how to can tomatoes and green beans. Each class costs $5 to cover the cost of the supplies and materials. At the end of the workshops, each participant will take home samples of their hard work.
Space is limited to the first 10 who register and pay their fees. Contact Renay Knapp, Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent for more information. Contact Ivy Olson or Barbara Walker at )828) 697-4891 to register.
