Locally-filmed sci-fi movie makes its debut

An independent science fiction suspense film, nearly two years in the making, premiered at a private showing at The Carolina Cinemas in Asheville Wednesday night to a house of 85 applauding viewers.

The raucous applause came as music to the ears of “Shadows on the Wall” writer and director Ben Carland, who shared the experience of the final cut with cast, crew, supporters, friends and family on his birthday. Expert cinematography and stellar performances made the Hendersonville-based film a hit, but the journey to the premiere wasn’t easy.
