Press release from the Seasonal School of Culinary Arts:
July 10 marks the beginning of the Seasonal School of Culinary Arts’ twelfth season, with a collection of chefs and artists to make any palate sing. This year’s theme is the Pairing of Culinary and Musical Genres, beginning with Appalachian fare and evocative ballads on Monday, July 11th, Deep South dishes and blues on Tuesday, July 12th, New Orleans-inspired plates and Dixie jazz on Wednesday, July 13th, French fare and Django jazz celebrating Bastille Day on Thursday, July 14th, and Irish dishes accompanied by some toe-tapping Irish jigs and reels on Friday, July 15th.
Featured will be several of Asheville’s iconic chefs, musicians and beverage experts, with hands-on morning classes leading into multi-course wine-paired luncheons and afternoon tasting sessions laced with music and comradery. The setting is the campus of Warren Wilson College, with the magic of its organic farm and garden and the constancy of fiddles and flutes ringing out as the Swannanoa Gathering’s Celtic Week is conducted simultaneously.
Students are invited to attend the entire week (July 10-15) for the ultimate experience, or can opt for day-by-day registration if time and budget are short. For details, visit www.schoolofculinaryarts.org or call 828-301-2792.
