Local artists open their doors during RAD second Saturdays

WHAT: During “A Closer Look,” a celebration of the diverse types of creativity in Asheville’s River Arts District, artists welcome the public to watch them work in their studios and galleries. Demonstrations include a potter throwing bowls on the wheel, basketmaking with bark and vines, several live painting demonstrations and wax painting using a blow torch.

WHEN: Saturday, July 12 10:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.

WHO: More than 25 demonstrations and activities led by local artists from our 180+ working studios in the district. Please see full list of special events here.

DETAILS: The River Arts District of Asheville consists of a vast array of artists and working studios in 22 former factories and historical buildings nestled along the French Broad River. More than 180 working studios, many with showrooms and galleries, are open every day, all year round. Visitors are encouraged to meet the artists, explore their studios, watch them work and discuss their creative process.
