Downtown Hendersonville will be bustling with energy on Saturday, May 8, with a multitude of events and outdoor activity for the entire family to enjoy. LoveHendo Saturday kicks off a new year to welcome the community to experience downtown while still practicing a safe social distance with outdoor shopping and entertainment. LoveHendo Saturdays take place the Second Saturday of each month, May – December, except for September. Each Saturday will host a different theme or partnering event.
Nearly one year ago, Covid-19 and broad closures created uncertainty for downtown businesses, but the Hendersonville community stepped up to support each other and local businesses with the LoveHendo movement to support local businesses in Henderson County. Now, as restrictions are being lifted, downtown Hendersonville continues to offer the best amenities for outdoor dining and activities for all ages.
Several events are happening concurrently during the kickoff of LoveHendo Saturday, including the opening day of the Hendersonville Farmers Market (Maple Street), the Jump Off Rock Half Marathon and 10k, and Ship Shape and Sailing On! Balloon Festival hosted by Team ECCO Shark Lab & Aquarium.
All day on Saturday, May 8, Main Street will be closed to vehicles from 1st Avenue to 6th Avenue. The cross streets will remain open for vehicles to traverse to the unique avenue businesses and the abundant downtown parking available just a short walk from Main Street. Handicap parking is available at the courthouse square and at the city hall lot on 6th Avenue. Public restrooms are conveniently located at the Visitors Center on the south end of Main and at 125 5th Avenue on the northern end.

Hendersonville Farmers Market has more than 30 vendors each Saturday offering produce, meat, eggs, baked goods, coffee, crafts, food trucks, live music, kids’ activities and more. The market is a weekly outing with something for everybody! Hendersonville Farmers Market is presented by Pardee UNC Health Care. The Hendersonville Farmers Market is excited to provide a Double Dollars program to match SNAP/EBT purchases for 2021.

The Inaugural Jump off Rock Half Marathon and 10k presented by Hunter Subaru will be one of the fastest downhill half marathons in the southeast and finishes right in the heart of Downtown Hendersonville. A fundraiser for Team ECCO Aquarium & Shark Lab’s 10th anniversary, join a team of talented balloon artists from across North Carolina as they come together in creative collaboration right in downtown Hendersonville. A cast of characters and sea creatures will make their way from the aquarium at noon to the balloon build at the historic courthouse for the unveiling and balloon celebration. Activities include a Tap Snap Photo Booth, wind tunnel prize machine, craft table, face painting, meet a mermaid, hula hooping with Michele Simpson, Overmoutain Vineyards table, and much more.LoveHendo Saturday is an open street activity taking place the Second Saturday of each month May – December (except for September) to provide a unique downtown experience for all ages. Downtown businesses may expand into the street to provide open air activity and experiences. LoveHendo Saturday partners up with several downtown events. An Acoustic Evening with Peter Noone at the Center for Arts & Entertainment. The CAE is reopening in 2021 with a safe, socially distanced theatre setting to enjoy live music and performances while keeping attendees at a healthy distance. There will be a 2pm and 7pm show.
