Press release from Parsec Financial:
Parsec Financial, a fee-only wealth management firm, announced today the third of five recipients for the annual Parsec Prize. Our VOICE, Inc., a non-profit crisis intervention and prevention agency which serves victims of sexual violence age 13 through adult, has been awarded a 2017 Parsec Prize of $25,000. This gift will provide on-going support for their full programming.
In the pursuit of a community that is free of sexual violence, Our VOICE serves all individuals in Buncombe County affected by sexual assault and abuse through counseling, advocacy and education. As the stigma around rape and sexual assault decreases, Our VOICE has become an even more visible force in the community.
Our VOICE has built a solid reputation for tailoring its services to the unique needs of underserved populations. They continue to draw growing numbers from outside their current catchment area of Buncombe County. They provide tailored programs for the LGBTQIA, homeless, African-American, Latino, male and elderly populations. Through primary prevention education, their curricula prevent the first-time perpetration of and victimization by sexual assault and rape on people of all ages in their community.
“Sexual violence is as serious an issue as it has ever been in our country. Our VOICE has been rising to the challenge for over 40 years by eliminating the stigma for survivors and pursuing a community free from sexual violence,” says Ashley Gragtmans, CFP, Parsec Financial. “At Parsec, we are humbled and honored to direct a portion of the Parsec Prize to help current survivors and decrease these crimes in the future through education and advocacy.”
This year, Parsec Financial will commit $200,000 to five organizations in the communities they serve. For more information on the Parsec Prize, you can visit www.parsecfinancial.com/parsec-prize.
